Iben Riber Carlsen primarily advises on commercial law matters within construction law, real estate, and commercial lease law. She is primarily based at the firm’s offices in Herning and Skjern.
Iben assists clients with all aspects of construction matters, ranging from review of construction contracts, contract negotiations, and preservation of evidence through inspection and expert appraisal, to representation in disputes. As a result, she has extensive knowledge of the Danish standard construction terms, including AB 18, ABT 18, ABR 18 and AB Consumer, as well as the former standards AB 92, ABT 93 and ABR 89.
In addition to construction law, Iben also advises on real estate and commercial and residential lease law. A significant part of her work consists of drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, including purchase agreements, commercial lease agreements, amendments, terminations, and agreements concerning rent adjustment, maintenance, refurbishment and vacating of premises. Her focus is not only on ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, but also on creating clear, practical and commercially balanced agreements that help prevent disputes.
For Iben, good legal advice is not only about resolving problems, but also about preventing them from arising. She has a particular passion for dispute resolution—both resolving matters before they develop into disputes and assisting clients in achieving the best possible outcome when disputes cannot be avoided. Accordingly, Iben has litigation experience before the District Courts and the High Courts, as well as arbitration proceedings before the Danish Building and Construction Arbitration Board, and has already handled a significant number of court cases.
Iben graduated with a Master’s Degree in law from Aarhus University in 2023.
During her studies, Iben completed a semester internship with a law firm in Athens, Greece (2021–2022).
